1. Medication management (psychopharmacology)
   Contemporary Care offers superior, state of the art medication management for all psychiatric disorders by Dr. Tarique Perera.
   1. Dr. Tarique Perera is the founder of Contemporary Care. Dr. Perera trained at Harvard Medical School and The Psychiatric Residency Program at Columbia University. As Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia, Dr. Perera conducts cutting edge research on the neurobiology of depression. In addition he has extensive experience in outpatient psychiatry and is considered a leading expert in psychopharmacology, frequently lecturing other psychiatrists and clinicians on various topics related to medications.
2. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
   TMS is a novel cutting edge treatment for major depression that is FDA approved and recommended by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) for treating adult unipolar depression.
   1. TMS is more effective, faster acting, more durable, safer, and tolerable than conventional medications for the following reasons:
      • It is the first non-invasive treatment to specifically target brain regions that contribute to depression in the history of psychiatry.
      • Data supporting the clinical effectiveness of TMS is more powerful than the data on efficacy of medications. Effectiveness of TMS has been shown over 15 yrs of research and proven in a Meta analysis of over 35 studies and in two multi center clinical trials conducted in the world's leading research centers.
      • Benefits of TMS are more durable than those of medications because only 10% of patients that responded to TMS relapsed back into depression over 6 months (while analogous relapse rates with medications are almost 70%).
      • TMS maybe the safest and most side effect-free treatment for depression based on over 20 years of research. It even seems to be safe in pregnant women and children.
   2. Contemporary Care is one of the most experienced and successful TMS practices in the country for the following reasons.
      • Dr. Perera has more experience (over 12 years) than most outpatient clinicians in providing TMS.
      • He has developed a superb team (Dr. Adam Shapiro and Christine Petrucco, MA) that has treated more patients in the past year than any other practice.
      • Contemporary Care provides highly customized treatments including bilateral TMS when indicated.
      • Besides success rates with Major Depression (for which TMS is FDA-approved) we have excellent results treating several other disorders for which TMS is not yet FDA-approved including:
