Group psychotherapy is offered by Erica B. Saypol, Ph.D., LLC. Many patients find group therapy particularly effective because in addition to responding to interventions by the therapist, they find that by listening to others’ experiences, they glean further insight into their own. Other benefits patients report are the useful feedback from other members, the opportunity to observe and learn new coping methods from others, and the nurturing social contact. Getting different perspectives from group members is often helpful in promoting growth and change.
Group therapy offers participants the opportunity to interact with others who are coping with similar issues in a safe, supportive environment.
Group therapy can be recommended as an adjunct to individual psychotherapy or instead of it. Each patient will be evaluated on a case by case basis to choose the treatment(s) most appropriate to his or her needs.
Contemporary Care offers the following groups:
(Whether or not a group is currently available will depend upon the number of patients referred for and interested in the group at a particular time.)
